Jamaican Rice & Peas

A local staple, very few Jamaican meals are complete without our authentic Jamaican Rice & Peas. Infused with coconut and Jamaican herbs and spices, this soft and fluffy dish is rich in starch and protein and has been served at the table of several generations of Jamaican homes.

 1 ½ cups Water
 2 cups Kendel coconut milk(Coming Soon)
 1 Can red kidney beans
 ¼ tsp Munroe Scotch Bonnet Powder(Coming Soon)
 1 tsp Crushed allspice berries
 1 Cinnamon stick
 1 pinch Freshly grated nutmeg
 2 Stalks scallion
 3 cloves garlic
 2 sprigs thyme
 2 cups Jasmine rice
 Salt to taste


Bring coconut milk and water to a boil, over high heat.


Add all ingredients except rice and bring back to a boil.


Stir in rice, bring back to a boil and reduce heat to medium.


As soon as the liquid reaches just below the top of the rice, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.


Continue to steam until all the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.


Turn off heat and leave the rice for about 10 minutes, before fluffing with a fork and serving.
